Happy Honma Reveal The Numbers Behind Rose’s Win

-

In less than two weeks since he put his new Honma Golf equipment into play, the world golf leader Justin Rose has responded with a convincing victory at the Farmers Insurance Open, consolidating his status as No.1 in the official world golf rankings. With four rounds of 63, 66, 69 and 69, and 267 strokes in total, he came in two strokes ahead of all his rivals with 21 under par finish.

He’s shown that the change in Torrey Pines, after two decades with Taylormade, hasn’t been a problem. After finishing tied 34th in the Desert Classic of the previous week, it seemed nobody expected the English player to adapt so quickly to his new driver and achieve such consistent scores. Consumer interest is expected to rise especially regarding the new Honma driver and, of course, the irons.

Rose’s Honma equipment responded well under competitive conditions, lead by the Honma TW747 460 driver fitted with the Honma Vizard FD-7X shaft, with which he recorded an average of 309.9y (303.5y in 2018) in Driving Distance, with a ball speed of 186mph (179mph last year), and a Driving Accuracy of 62.50%. “I can’t believe how good the driver is, and how well I’ve driven the ball this week on a tough test,” said Justin Rose after the victory.

In addition, the Honma T//world MB Rose Proto irons with the Lamkin REL ACE58R grips, which Rose worked with Honma engineers on, performed well enough for him to come in second with 77.78% Greens in Regulation percentage. How well they worked while in his hands was evident in the first two rounds, where Rose hit 32 of the 36 greens, to card scores of 63 and 66 shots, leaving himself a comfortable advantage into the weekend.

“I really felt comfortable with the clubs immediately,” added Justin Rose, who celebrated his tenth victory on the PGA Tour and became the most successful English golfer in America for over half a century. “It’s a whole new look for me, but I don’t mind if it’s going to produce this golf”.

While still using Taylormade’s TP5 golf ball and the M6 fairway wood, Rose has switched to the Axis 1 putter, a mallet with wings and an original hosel design that produces a perfectly balanced putter for a purer putt. Rose was tied for third in Putts per GIR.

Alejandro Sanchez, General Manager of Honma Golf in Europe, commented: “We could not have wished a better start in our relationship with Justin Rose on Tour, or his performance with the TW747 driver and Vizard shaft combination that’s unique to Honma. This early victory is sure to boost interest across Europe in the latest Honma range of clubs, that caters for golfers of all abilities.”
