A Thing Of Beauty-bettinardi's Queen B Line
Bettinardi’s Queen B Putters For 2019 Combine Sleek Design with Validated Technology
Alook and a touch is all it takes to understand that boutique putter artisan, Robert J Bettinardi, strives for no less than perfection, doing things unlike any other golf company. His claim to fame for example, was creating the the first ever one-piece milled putter out of a solid block of steel, while everyone else was milling the head and the neck of the putter separately, then welding the neck on to the head. The company is proud to declare that even though there are many ways to make a putter, there is only one way to make a Bettinardi. Each putter is hand-crafted from a single piece of highquality milled carbon or stainless steel using hi-tech CNC milling technology and craftsmanship.
For founder Bettinardi, the materials and processes are important but it’s finding the right look, refined through tour input, that can’t be understated, “Aesthetics always has been so important to us because we know if it looks good when you’re looking down at it, there’s a good chance you’re going to make that 4-footer,” he said. “It’s got to look good first. I actually think that’s more important in some ways than feel. Of course, if you’ve got both aesthetics and feel, well, I just think there’s a good chance you’re going to have a good round of golf that day.”
Staff players include Eddie Peperell and Haotong Li, but the best known has to be Francesco Molinari, who had an incredible season in 2018. It was only early last year that he decided to play one of Bettinardi’s flat sticks, before going on to win the British Open. It’s the third major title for the company, Jim Furyk at the 2003 U.S. Open and Vijay Singh at the 2004 PGA also won with Bettinardi putters in hand.
For 2019, Bettinardi has re-engineered shapes on the classic styles in the Queen B line, milling the putters at their own facility in Chicago, USA. The latest Queen B range includes the re-engineered QB5 and QB6, plus the all-new QB10, and features the exclusive Micro Honeycomb Face milling, allowing for a muted, yet crisp feel at impact for players looking for constant speed and feel. The new putters have been perfected following Tour feedback, along with Robert J. Bettinardi’s experienced input garnered over the last thirty years in fine tuning crafting.
Designed to combine performance with looks, the QB5, QB6 and QB10 putters are milled using the finest proprietary blend of soft carbon steel, and are completed with a champagne silver finish and tiffany blue hand-painted color scheme.
QUEEN B 5
The Queen B 5 makes its return to the lineup as one of the more sought-after blades Robert Bettinardi has ever produced. Robert has advanced his popular head shape with subtle, yet essential improvements, including cleaner lines, tighter milled radiuses, and softer bumpers. The distinctive appearance of the QB5 is exactly what the Queen B Series stands for with its 362 gram head weight, trademark Micro Honeycomb face milling, and champagne silver finish.
QUEEN B 6
The Queen B 6 putter is for the player seeking an elegant crossover between blade and mallet, with refined characteristics in our latest Queen B Series addition. This soft carbon steel putter features a high toe topline, wide body and flange, and newly crafted one shaft of offset for ideal balance and superior visualization at address. Micro Honeycomb face milling gives discerning players the desired feel and feedback at impact.
QUEEN B 10
Robert Bettinardi designs and crafts all his putters with the true player in mind, from prototype to reality, the entirely new Queen B 10 is refined for the player seeking a rounded, traditional mallet with softer visual cues and performance benefits with its Micro Honeycomb milled face. Precisely milled to weigh 362 grams, the QB10 features Bettinardi’s trademark crescent milled neck for ideal offset and optimal toe hang in a onepiece milled mallet.
“The direct feedback we’ve had from our Tour professionals has been invaluable,” said Sam Bettinardi, Vice President of the brand. “From prototype to reality, the QB10 received so much Tour praise, that we felt we had no choice but to put this model into production. It mixes our Tour winning crescent neck with a new, cleaner and rounded mallet,” he added.
“These new putters have been proven on the game’s biggest stage, along with being significantly tested at our headquarters to produce the best range we have ever had,” said Robert Bettinardi, CEO and Founder.
“Moving into our 20th anniversary of production next year, we look back on this year with huge satisfaction thanks to victories across the PGA and European Tours, plus the fantastic Major win. But, we also pride ourselves on producing a range that is suitable for every golfer, from the elite pro to the enthusiastic amateur,” he added.
