Ria Bintan Golf Club's 21st Year Milestone
RB21 Golf Carnival Celebrates Coming Of Age
For 21 years, the Gary Player designed award-winning golf course has delighted many golfers who to this day, continue to regale about the club’s spectacular Ocean Holes 7 and 8, the renowned signature Par 3 Hole 9, and the picturesque Hole 10 along a pristine stretch of beach and ocean.
This being the club’s 21st anniversary, Ria Bintan Golf Club celebrated the milestone
year with a two-day golf carnival event that included golf, games, food, entertainment and prizes.
Mr Goh York Lin, President, Keppel Land Indonesia said, “We are proud that Ria Bintan has withstood the test of time and remains one of the best courses in Indonesia and Asia, challenging golfers each day. It continues to receive accolades and awards from industry stakeholders, golf media and golfers, and we hope to continue to improve.”
It was Saturday 19 October that saw some 108 golfers, including members and partners of Ria Bintan, come together for the festivities. Dressed to the theme of ‘Yours Deerly’, participants in the unique Ria Bintan Par 3 Challenge played 21 Par 3 holes with a chance to win 21 Hole-in-one prizes of S$ 1,000.00 per hole. And although there were no Hole-in-one winners, there were 21 Nearest the Pin winners.
Saturday evening brought on the festivities in full swing with a barbecue dinner and carnival games, which had teams pitting golf skills against each other for prizes. The carnival atmosphere continued with musical entertainment and dancing, culminating in a two-minute fireworks display lighting up the night sky and a huge birthday cake in honour of the club.
Sunday morning saw golfers eager for the start of 18-hole tournament, and at the buffet lunch conclusion which included a lucky draw, winners were awarded.
Members’ Men Best Nett went to James Allen Tobojka (Hcp 14, Nett score 71); while Members’ Ladies Best Nett winner was Shelley Barrett (Hcp 28, Nett score 76).
The Men’s Division B saw Yuen Sai Leong (Hcp 21, Nett score 70) triumphant; and in the Men’s Division A, Olivier Alain Joseph Dhonte (Hcp 10, Nett score 69) emerged the champion.
The Ladies Division found a winner in Alissa Jill Barrett (Hcp 7, Nett score 72).
Returning a best gross score of 75, Jackie Teo emerged as Overall Champion.
