WHERE WE DID IT

-

We’ve tested golf gear at the National Fitting Centre at The Belfry since 2005. It’s a fabulous facility in the heart of the country, with fitting rooms for the majority of the major brands, plus a team of expert club fitters who will help you choose. was actually a benefit, not a drawback, as it made it possible to create a controlled environment and use a premium ball (based on our own robot testing, we choose Taylormade’s TP5X), which means collecting the most accurate data possible.

In 2020, for the first time, we’ve introduced drop-off data for every club tested (excluding putters and wedges). Drop-offs are the differences in ball speed, spin and carry between our test pro’s on- and off-centre hits. This new insight gives a reliable indication of how accurate/ forgiving each model will be on the course, as we’ve argued for years that dispersion can be very misleading as that’s based on how you’re swinging it on a particular day.

We’ve been so impressed with the Gcquad monitor that we’ve got to a point where we urge you to insist on getting fitted on one for yourself. For us, it’s the only way to see how the clubs you’re looking at buying compare, and by doing it with a premium ball you get the same results you’ll see on the course. You’ll better understand your gear and get an idea of where your most common mishits happen. We reckon you’ll also get your best fitting equipment ever. You’ll be in elite company, too; numerous Tour pros insist on Foresight’s GC Quad when working on their own game.
