COBRA KING RAD SPEED
◆ LOFTS 9° / 10.5° ◆ STOCK SHAFTS Fujikura XF1 or XF3, Project X HZRDUS RDX Blue, Project X Evenflow Riptide CB
VERDICT We love the matt-black head (the RAD Speed XB and XD both have glossy paint jobs) and how it knocks back the crown creases that some will find distracting. Nobody can argue that the RAD Speed, with its Cncmilled face, skeleton titanium body, carbon fibre crown/ sole panels and the new Radial Weighting story (plus an Arccos shot tracker), isn’t one of the most hi-tech drivers available. How Cobra manage to bring it all together is incredible value for money, and exactly why Cobra are hitting more golfers’ sweetspots year on year. In terms of performance, at 279 yards, the RAD Speed was tied longest for carry distance (low-spin models) which, considering the price, is outstanding. Before buying one, though, look at our forgiveness data. The RAD Speed slips down the forgiveness pecking order, with 79% more carry distance drop off than Ping’s G425 LST.
