VERDICT Taylormade are great marketeers, but SIM2, like its predecessors, is not just a great-looking driver; arguably it’s the most alluring driver story of the year. We like how, by doing away with a weight track, not a single gram is wasted, and MOI has been nudged up by 5%. Low-spin drivers rarely perform best for our test pro, but thanks to the extra MOI on offer, the SIM2 is now a serious contender. Our data has the SIM2 creating 1.4% less carry distance than our longest, but that’s a minuscule difference that could easily be switched on a different day. A carry distance drop off of less than 7% pushes the SIM2 inside our top 10 performing drivers for forgiveness, which is a cracking result for Taylormade’s lowest spinning driver of 2021.
