VERDICT The last two generations of SFT have seen the model morphed from a cracking ‘keep a slice in check’ driver into a flat-out ‘slice-busting machine’. Ping are happy to keep helping golfers at this end of the scale, knowing there are good levels of draw bias available from the new G425 Max (with the sole weight in the draw position). That means not all players who’ve been fitted into SFT before will need the same model in 2021, which spells out perfectly how the SFT is probably the most draw-capable driver available in 2021. SFT was our tester’s longest driver of the year, it was also the single model he hit the most amount of looping draws with, which somewhat skewed our numbers. The important takeaway is that the SFT is tooled up to do exactly as Ping promise – which is to help keep golfers away from the right-hand rough.
