Mercedes-benz S-class

Luxury That Matters

-

The new Mercedes-benz S-class, the world’s best-selling luxury saloon, uses digitisation for a car that responds empathetically to the needs and wishes of its driver and passengers, and is to be experienced with all the senses. It offers numerous innovations in the areas of driver assistance, protection and interaction.

Modern luxury attains the next level in the interior with a feel-good lounge ambience. The dashboard’s modern surface design and ergonomic display is a particular highlight. But the feel-good aspect goes even deeper - with high ride quality and low noise levels as well as an extensive range of Energising Comfort programmes to look after the well-being of passengers.

The S-class has always been a place for comfortable travel and relaxed working, and the interior has now fully evolved into a “third place”, a refuge between the home and workplace. The harmony between digital and analogue luxury results in a interior with yacht design elements. Of highlight is the contoured open-pored wood veneer trim, shot through with inlays of real aluminium.

The seats literally invite the occupants to sit down and relax. The flowing, threedimensional layer design theme gives an impression of lightness; up to 19 motors in the front seats make for comfortable seating, and ten massage programmes are available in the S-class. Vibration motors enhance the effect of a relaxing massage with hot-stone warmth combining with the inflatable air chambers in the active multi-contour seats.

The driving experience is at the next level. Digital innovations such as in MBUX (Mercedes-benz User Experience) are

joined by innovations that increase driving enjoyment while making driving even safer; among them are rear-axle steering and safety innovations such as the rear airbag. The driving assistance systems are a further step towards autonomous driving with improved environmental sensors, like the parking systems that better support the driver even when manoeuvring at low speed.

With a short front overhang, a long wheelbase and a balanced rear overhang, the S-class is designed with perfect proportions. The wide track and flush-mounted modern wheels give the vehicle a muscular look. Cleverly contoured surfaces with a sculptured look create special light effects while the front section impresses with its high-status radiator grille.

The flatter and smallish headlamps characterise the front aspect of the car with the three-point daytime driving light signature typical of the S-class. Door handles are now flush-mounted and electrically extend when the outer surface of the door handle is stroked.

The dynamic appearance continues at the rear. With precisely designed, highly detailed interior features and animated functions, the rear lights contribute to the impression of high quality, making the new S-class unmistakable in both day and night.

Available in one engine variant - the S 450 L 4MATIC is powered by the 3.0-litre turbocharged 6-cylinder engine with the 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission. Developing 270 kw (367 hp) and a maximum torque of 500 Nm, the S-class accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 5.1 seconds.
