MIZUNO ST-Z FAIRWAY WOODS Pure Curves And Pragmatic Performance
Pure Curves And Pragmatic Performance
Last year, Mizuno completely reworked the internal structure of its fairway woods, and the ST-Z is the next evolution. With high levels of stability and low spin efficiency which they say isn’t common in most fairway woods, the ST-Z fairway woods offer a throwback profile, with curves for the purist and performance for the pragmatist.
Similar to the driver, engineers have improved the Cortech multithickness pads behind the hitting area to raise ball speeds while also improving sound and feel. And an ultra-lightweight carbon crown lowers the CG for better spin yet maintains forgiveness, while the re-engineered Wave technology positions more mass in the sole.
Further evolution of Mizuno’s 3rd generation MAS1C face is touted as its most powerful. Both 3 and 5 woods have an adjustable, quick switch, hosel offering 4 degrees of loft and face angle adjustability.

“The fairway wood might be the least regularly changed club in any bag so we spent a lot of time looking at older models that our tour players had hung onto over the years. It ended with a lot of really subtle touches on the ST-Z, like leading edge and transition into the hosel. There’s a lot to like at address.” - Chris Voshall, Mizuno
