VERDICT The HMBS will be two years old this summer, but that hasn’t stopped Jason Day putting a set in his bag. As long as you’re a reasonable ball striker and your handicap falls somewhere close to Mizuno’s 5-9 guide, you will love them. Purists will say the face is springy chromoly steel, and if that doesn’t float your boat, Mizuno also have the MP-20 MMC and JPX921 Tour. Our data suggests the HMBS give up nine yards to the brand’s JPX921 Hot Metal Pro irons, which will be a factor to some. In our book, anyone who already owns the HMB has a set of Mizuno irons that will stand the test of time.
