Hydro Flask

Stay Colourfully Hydrated

-

Hydro Flask. You know the one, it’s that colourful metal water bottle in the hand or peeking out of the bag of the YOLO set. From teenager to millennial, it seems like everyone has one yet no two seem alike. And if you don’t know the difference between other vacuum-insulated metal bottles and a Hydro Flask, then maybe you aren’t cool enough to have one.

Seriously though, what really sets Hydro Flasks apart is their distinct, trendy look and the options to personalise them. Even plastered with a collage of stickers, you can still tell it’s a Hydro Flask. Powder-coated in 14 vibrant shades, colours are seasonal and ever changing, from cobalt to carnation, and alpine to watermelon. And if you really want to notch it up to the next level, there’s the

limited edition collections to be had for a premium over the regular range.

Started in 2009 by an American couple who thought that drinking water could be cooler, literally and figuratively, they re-invented the wheel by taking double-wall vacuum insulation technology and putting it into a quality, stylish bottle for people living joyful active lives.

Highly functional in size from a miniscule 12 ounce to massive 64-ounce jug in a standard mouth or a wide-mouth bottle, choose from a variety of lids and caps that best serve the way you drink on the move. Outside of the standard flex cap, there’s the sports cap, straw lid, flip lid, and flex sip lid, to name just the more popular ones.

As a golfer, I’ve found the personal sweet spot to be that of the widemouth 20 ounce bottle with a flex sip lid. Sure, 20 oz is just under 600 ml and for most would be sufficient for just 9 holes, requiring a refill. A minor inconvenience outweighed by its ideal size which fits it perfectly into the golf bag’s large side pocket. And why widemouth over standard? Three reasons; the wide-mouth is easy to wash and load ice cubes in, and the flex sip lid is a perfect fit.

The flex sip lid is a marvel in itself.

Hot or cold, it takes no more than a quick colour-coded quarter turn to drink from, with no temperature or liquid leakage. And with just another quarter turn, the lid is ingeniously easy to disassemble into three large parts for a thorough clean.

And if you’re looking for one final reason for your personal Hydro Flask? There’s probably one in a colour to match your chosen golf outfit for the day.
