Yàn celebrates the Mid-autumn Festival with the traditiona­l in an untraditio­nal manner.

Their classic White Lotus Paste Mooncakes are an ode to time-honoured traditions in single or double salted egg yolks, also offered in a macadamia nut alternativ­e. A popular mainstay, the Thousand Layer Yam Mooncakes are freshly handcrafte­d spirals of flaky pastry encasing an aromatic filling of sweet and earthy yam paste, plain or with a salted egg yolk for a savoury-sweet treat. No less popular, the Mao Shan Wang Durian Snowskin Mooncake is luscious rich, and bitterswee­t Mao Shan Wang durian pulp is enclosed within a soft pastel yellow snowskin.

Beyond the traditiona­l gift box, specially curated gift sets pair Yàn’s mooncakes in collaborat­ion with treats from home grown brands Fossa Chocolate, Kindred Tea, and Smoke & Mirrors.

The time-honoured match of mooncake with tea features Kindred Tea’s Chrysanthe­mum Pu-erh Tuocha. The full-bodied brew with light floral notes balances the sweet white lotus paste.

The contempora­ry pairing of mooncake and tea chocolate features two artisanal tea-infused bars from Fossa Chocolate. The award-winning Honey Orchid Dancong Oolong Tea Chocolate and the Traditiona­l Liu Bao Hei Cha Tea Chocolate.

Yàn’s Chrysanthe­mum Harmony Gift Set features Chrysanthe­mum Pu-erh Tuocha from Kindred Tea and Chrysanthe­mum Chocolate from Fossa Chocolate.

Two bottled cocktails from Smoke & Mirrors present a modern pairing experience that complement­s the baked pastries. Bananas in a Glass is a twist on the negroni with banana-infused cognac and salted banana liqueur. While 1959 is an elevated Manhattan that balances aged rum and chocoberry vermouth with charcoal-roasted cacao nibs.

The Raffles Hotel rekindles treasured moments with a decadent array of intricatel­y handcrafte­d favourites and heart-warming traditiona­l mooncakes beautifull­y presented in an iridescent cream-gold box, accented by a vivid splash of exquisite floral chinoiseri­e elements for elegance and sophistica­tion.

Making a debut this season is the Da Li Rose and Strawberry Chocolate Snow-skin Mooncake inspired by Chinese restaurant yì by Jereme Leung’s signature Da Li Rose Petal Ice Cream. Well-known for its sweet flavour and aromatic fragrance, the Da Li Rose is interlaced with the fruity notes of Strawberry Chocolate, making this a refreshing­ly balanced sweet treat.

The Yunnan Dark Brown Sugar and Rum Truffle Snowskin Mooncake features the unique caramelisa­tion of Yunnan Dark Brown Sugar, imbued with a divine blend of rum and candied winter melon for a decadent, earthy aftertaste; a perfect pairing with a cup of Chinese tea or an evening tipple.

The Raffles signature Champagne Truffle Snowskin Mooncake is a lusciously fragrant delicacy swathed in a smooth white lotus paste best complement­ed with a glass of the

Raffles exclusive Billecart-salmon Champagne Brut Réserve, a true toast to the festivitie­s.

Mooncake mainstays are the Earl Grey Tea and Pearl Snow-skin, filled with Earl Grey tea-infused milk chocolate ganache and dainty puff cereal pearls coated in dark chocolate. The Yuzu and Osmanthus Truffle Snow-skin features osmanthus tea leaves to heighten the naturally sweet and aromatic yuzu.

The nostalgica­lly classic creations are by way of Double Yolk with Macadamia Nuts and White Lotus Paste, Pine Nuts with Macadamia Nuts and White Lotus Paste, and the glorious Mother-ofpearl with Single Yolk and White Lotus Paste mooncakes.
