Golf Asia

OBSTACLE OR OPPORTUNITY

- Hubert Tang hubert@media-group.com.sg

While 2021 has been challenging in many ways for many people, so too have opportunities arisen for others. For is not an obstacle an opportunity the same, but seen through a different lens?

As Michael Jordan, basketball great whose golf game is almost as legendary said, “Obstacles don’t have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don’t turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it, or work around it.”

Questions arose when the idea of hosting our own golf events was mooted in the face of another pandemic year. Regulations and restrictions dictated that it wasn’t possible, and indeed, there were none fielding a shotgun start of 144 golfers anywhere. Any golf activity was mostly confined to pockets of social games at the time, and precisely why if we could, we should be the first out of the gate.

A wise man once told me, “If you want the right answer, ask the right question.”

When I asked what was possible, answers began to appear. And in May, the first Golf Asia Golf Experience got off the ground. Modestly sized, it afforded avid golfers the opportunity to play a prestigious course with direct experiential engagement of golf specific and lifestyle brands.

With our third Golf Experience just concluded in a little over six months, it’s been busy. Now it’s time to be thankful - for the opportunities, for our Managing Director Dennis Pua, the wonderfully capable Sales and Marketing Team, everyone who’s put in some elbow grease, and most of all you, dear reader, for making it happen.

To you all, I raise my glass… Salud. Merry Christmas.
