PATEK PHILIPPE Ref. 27001M-001 Desk Clock With Perpetual Calendar

-

A Patek Philippe first for Only Watch is the creation of a desk clock with a new and novel mechanism as well as unique features. With a power reserve of 31 days accurate to ±1 seconds per day, it took seven years to develop the rectangular caliber 86-135 PEND IRM Q SE; composed of 919 parts of which nearly half belong to the perpetual calendar, it carries nine patent applications. Two innovations are the jumping second (also referred to as a seconde morte) in the style of antique regulator clocks, and the weekly calendar displaying the week number. The “Packard” shaped desk clock hides an intuitive mechanical dashboard beneath a hinged cover. In the top left corner is a socket with a patented ejection system for the winding key - a multi-part, artistically finished accessoire. Two key openings in the upper right set the time and wind the movement. Five correctors beneath the dial set the perpetual calendar from left to right. The case design in 925 silver carries veneers of American walnut decorated with traditional screen-printed gold fillets. The case edge’s cord motif is repeated on the bezel. We see silver-gilt appliques in the style of the 1923 desk clock that inspired this creation; three rosettes in the bottom corners and at 12 o’clock, acanthus scrollwork that frames the Calatrava cross, and four case feet depicting griffon vultures. “THE ONLY ONE” inscription emphasises the one-of-a-kind aspect of this exclusive treasure. Patek Philippe wanted this unique piece to appeal to connoisseurs and collectors and this goal was achieved when the Ref. 27001M-001 desk clock was gaveled off for 9.5 million Swiss francs.
