-

World No. 6 Jin Young Ko (picture) has confirmed she will defend her title at the HSBC Women’s World Championship, taking place at Sentosa Golf Club, Singapore, 29 February 29 – 3 March 2024.

Ko, a two-time major champion, won the 2023 edition by two shots over America’s Nelly Korda in a thrilling finale. Despite challenging weather conditions, the 27-year-old maintained her composure, carding a final-round 69 to clinch her 14th LPGA victory and become the first player in the tournament's history to successfully defend her title. The victory marked a return to the winner’s circle for the 27-year-old, who had struggled with a persistent wrist injury since the second half of 2022.

“This year’s win at Sentosa will always mean a lot to me,” Ko recalls. “2022 was a challenging year and being able to successfully defend my title at one of Asia’s major events and one of my favourite stops on tour stirred up a lot of emotions for me. Singapore is truly an amazing city and every year we have the best time taking in the sights and enjoying world-class cuisine. I can’t wait to be back there in February and hopefully aiming for a third consecutive win.”

The 72-hole stroke play tournament will once again be played on the renowned Tanjong Course at Sentosa Golf Club, which hosts its 11th edition of the tournament.

Kee Joo Wong, CEO HSBC Singapore said, “HSBC is committed to opening up a world of opportunity for women in sport and to bringing the best of the world to Singapore. We're delighted to welcome back our defending champion, Jin Young Ko, whose thrilling finalround performance was a highlight of this year’s event. Against the backdrop of Singapore, recognised as one of the world's most dynamic cities, this worldclassclass tournament finds the perfect stage at Sentosa Golf Club, and we couldn’t be more excited for the 2024 edition.”
