Hong Kong’s Blindspot Gallery will fea­ture a group of tal­ented young Chi­nese artists at Art Basel and then break out a sep­a­rate ex­hi­bi­tion with one of them – Jiang Zhi – un­til May 28. His newly made LED sculp­ture and pho­tog­ra­phy orig­i­nate from his dance and club se­ries, where he restages fic­tional scenes of ar­ti­fi­cial en­joy­ment in night­clubs and par­ties. The mov­ing lights and mes­meris­ing colours aim to ex­pose the psy­cho­log­i­cal char­ac­ter of con­tem­po­rary China – the col­lec­tive yearn­ing for hu­man con­nec­tion and dis­il­lu­sion­ment with con­sumerist de­sires.
