INSPIRED STAY
New York City-based artist DAVID WEEKS takes us inside The Park Lane Hong Kong, where a splendid harbour view and the contemporary decor sparked his creativity
HONG KONG IS a city of breathtaking views, urban contrasts, vivid colours and design excellence. During my stay at Causeway Bay’s The Park Lane Hong Kong, a Pullman Hotel, I experienced all of these. My room’s view was one of the best in the city – and my vista from the rooftop during my daily breakfast was even more impressive.
As an artist, I take inspiration from everything that’s around me, especially when I travel. I often find myself in hotel rooms around the world conceptualising my next collection or art piece, and the attention to detail of room 1614 was inspirational from the beginning.
Staying in a hotel that features outstanding, chic decor and overlooks one of the most spectacular skylines in the world made my stay in the city most memorable. It felt like being in an artsy oasis of peace and relaxation in the midst of the bustling urban vibrancy of Causeway Bay, which is the perfect starting point to explore Hong Kong.
The sophisticated, edgy Skye bar and restaurant on the 27th floor was also a highlight of my visit to the city for the exciting Art Week. I would definitely come back to The Park Lane Hong Kong, where everything, from small objects to the check-in counter, is a symbol of design and creativity.
