How 23 students at Hong Kong’s PolyU Design school create a capsule collection for H&M

- ANNE LIM- CHAPLAIN / PUBLISHER & CO- FOUNDER

SUMMER CAME EARLY this year, bringing heatwaves, beach days and all the delicious promises of a few quieter months. Whether you’re travelling the world or staying in Hong Kong, we hope you remember what this season is all about: daring adventures and new beginnings. Here at #legend, we’re excited to declare that we’re embarking on our own new chapter. After two years of celebrating the cutting edge of luxury, fashion, travel and more, we’re expanding! We can’t say too much right now, but look forward to a bigger and better website, and some exciting new innovations from us and our KOL family.

But that’s all in the future. For now, we’re busy obsessing over Girls’ Generation superstar

Yuri Kwon, who spoke to us in Seoul about her journey and hopes for the future. She looks back on her time with the mega-band, finds strength in the hardships of her youth and inspires us with her philosophical approach to life. And the sweltering summer days have never looked so good as they do here. Flip through the pages to find all of your #fashioninspo, from heart-pounding beach fashion to the chicest outfits for a Lamma Island adventure. Fashion doesn’t rest, darlings… not even at 35°.

For our fashion cover, Kieran Ho speaks with Hong Kong’s fastest-rising star – Hanna Chan. The young actress was nominated for Best New Performer at the 2018 Hong Kong Film Awards for her work in Paradox. She finds solace in her craft and believes she’s grown as a person through it. “For me, acting is kind of a magical process that forces yourself to really grow up and see things from a perspective you’ve never considered before,” she says.

Chan isn’t the only on-screen talent turning heads this season. Yang Mingming, the acclaimed director, writer, editor and actress, is taking her rightful position at the forefront of China’s indie film revolution. Her most recent work, Girls Always Happy, won two of the most prestigious prizes at the Hong Kong International Film Festival. She deftly tackles China’s generational social divide and proves that the nation’s cinematic future isn’t in Hollywood-esque blockbusters, but in more thoughtful independent productions.

Of course, it wouldn’t be a summer issue without some indulgent wanderlust. This month, we head to Hokkaido to discover the true meaning of experiential travel courtesy of The Pavilions Hotels & Resorts, where founder Gordon Oldham shows us the real Niseko. Digital editor Yi Li Dawson takes us to Bali’s secluded Revīvō wellness resort, where she finds balance in the serene stillness, and learns to embrace seclusion and mindfulness. Speaking of, Kieran Ho learns that model Kaia Gerber, at just 16 years old, has already learned the importance of slowing down. In Berlin for the launch of the new Omega collection, she tells him her most valued piece of advice: “To live life in the moment, which is so hard to do now when there’s social media. You spend so much time looking at other people’s lives, so just take that moment in your own life and be grateful for it.”
