The momentum issue

-

A WISE RING-TAILED lemur from the Republic of Madagascar once proclaimed: “I like to move it, move it” – and for the months of May and June, we totally agree with his sentiment. This is the Momentum Issue, an omnichannel curation of fun, engaging and inspirational content that will have you tapping your feet and shaking your hips.

As city folk, the world around us is in constant flux and momentum is second-nature – almost to the point that we become immune to it. But if you take a step back, you'll realise there's so much beauty within the chaos that might have been forgotten, because we have become so busy surviving in this demanding landscape that we forget to live. When was the last time you pressed the pause button on life and took a moment to look around?

We've taken momentum and slowed it down just enough to capture a selection of dynamic images, each with a backstory, ranging from the fast-approaching styles of next season to a pair of African elephants with their tusks locked in combat, and to a refugee-run food truck speeding through Beirut. Each story is entirely unique, but they all contain an undeniable sense of velocity, beauty and momentum.

You'll find yourself tantalised by the hottest styles coming in from across the globe in our autumn/winter 2019 fashion runway report. After you ogle the selection of the current season's styles to know, scan the QR code with your mobile device and you'll be whisked away to a digital version of the shoot, where you can see the beautiful fabrics in slowmotion movement – and maybe even shop the looks online, too.

We certainly can't miss the woman of the moment, Gemma Chan, the Hollywood actress of Hong Kong descent who's blowing up on the silver screens. The Crazy Rich Asians actress speaks with us exclusively about her roots and how she finds life in the fast lane. And being Chinese, how could we not talk about food? You'll also discover what Chan's favourite Chinese food is – written in the starlet's own handwriting – and rest assured, it's crazy delicious!
