French hitmaker DJ Snake brings his creative eye to the watch world, partnering with Hublot on the boldly iridescent Big Bang DJ Snake

William Sami Étienne Grigahcine is the epitome of hitting it big. The award-winning Frenchman better known as DJ Snake is the most streamed French artist in the world and the first to have two songs with over a billion plays on Spotify. Now, in a fitting tribute, he has his own limited- edition Big Bang timepiece created in partnership with leading Swiss brand Hublot.

“To be able to wear – and also offer my fans – a watch which reflects my personality is something that has been very important to me since the start of my partnership with Hublot,” says DJ Snake, who first joined forces with the brand in January 2018 when he presided over the decks at its closing evening during the FIFA World Cup in Russia. “I’m delighted to have been able to combine my inspiration with the expertise of the fantastic watchmakers and technicians at this Swiss brand.”

DJ Snake, who burst on the scene with “Turn Down for What” in 2013, has collected Billboard Music Awards, MTV Music Awards and NRJ Music Awards for hits such as “Lean On” and “Let Me Love You” in collaboration with Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez, Kanye West, Lil Jon and more. A nod to the fact that his hits have made the world his home as well as his hectic travel schedule appears on the upper face of the Big Bang DJ Snake’s upper dial in the form of a map of the world in the same colours as the case.

The watch itself, which retains the instantly recognisable and iconic design of the Big Bang, gleams with a thousand coloured reflections thanks to a complex treatment known as a “Newton’s Rings” effect. The process involves precisely orienting the components to a certain position to obtain the required colour, resulting in a spectacular iridescence that changes with the light and angle of the viewer.

DJ Snake designed the cut-outs on the outer edge of the bezel himself, distinguishing his watch from other collections and illustrating Hublot’s “Art of Fusion” philosophy. Limited to 100 pieces, the Big Bang DJ Snake is powered by the HUB1242 UNICO movement with a power reserve of 72 hours. It comes with two easily interchangeable straps, one made from rubber with a camouflage pattern in colours that reflect those on the case and the other with a black ribbed structure.

“DJ Snake turns everything he touches to gold! We are thrilled to have been able to channel his outstanding creativity into this new limited- edition piece,” says Hublot CEO Ricardo Guadalupe. “The result is truly multifaceted, just like DJ Snake’s talents!”
