#Legend

feel the love generation

- ZANETA CHENG / EDITOR-IN-CHIEF

ACCORDING TO MY Spotify Wrapped, my top favourite musical artist of 2022 was Whitney Houston. One the many songs of hers I enjoyed on repeat was the 1985 classic “How Will I Know” – whose title line is of course followed by “if he really loves me”. So I suppose it’s not too much of a surprise that this lyric became the seed from which my February bloomed. Maybe your paramour reallys love you if they start wearing your clothes, like the young couple in our fashion shoot “I love (to dress like) you”. Our jewellery shoot, “In art, as in life”, weaves jewellery into the love stories depicted in various works of art. In our wellness feature, we show both singles and couples different love rituals to amplify self-love as well as relationship love through sound waves and crystals.

Of course, there is our annual Valentine’s Day gift guide for anyone who finds present buying a particular trial as well as a fun little dining story on where to go once you find that gift (or not). There’s plenty for everyone to do this Valentine’s Day so trust us, we’ve given you more than enough to figure out whether he or she really loves you based on the sheer amount of enthusiasm with which we’ve leaned into this Hallmark holiday.

When it comes to love, perhaps nobody encapsulates it quite as well as singing, acting sensation Sammi Cheng. The Hong Kong icon has been performing for audiences for over three decades and as she hits 50 (though she really, truly, hand on heart doesn’t look like it, not one ounce) shares with #legend how she embraces each decade with love and acceptance and looks forward to the opportunities they give her. Just recently she scooped up best actress for her part as a grieving foster mother in the Hong Kong film Lost Love. Cheng took the role without pay – her way of supporting local talent and the Hong Kong film scene, which she claims to love and of which she is such an intrinsic part.

Before I bid you goodbye and good wishes as you flip through this month’s issue, which was produced with much love and care, I wish to also direct your attention to our events pages. We’re not reintroducing party coverage, but we do want to commemorate each of our exclusively partnered events and our magazine’s own events and its supporters in our pages. So, dear reader, do pay attention going forward to party recap pages where #legend threw its own get-together or where we were exclusive media partner.
