Attaché case by Ettinger and double gusset briefcase by Purdey, both from the Jimmy Beaumont Bespoke Travel Collection Inspired by actor and author David Niven, this bespoke attaché case was made entirely by hand by an Ettinger craftsman, using traditional English bridle leather on the exterior and long grain skiver on the inside. The attaché is based on a 1930s original and adapted for modern-day use with the addition of an iPad pocket on the lid. It could easily have been used by David Niven to carry around his papers when the actor was writing his hugely successful books. Founded in 1934, Ettinger is one of the finest luxury leather goods manufacturers in Great Britain and the only leather goods provider with a Royal Warrant to HRH The Prince of Wales.
A special briefcase entirely handmade in England by Neil MacGregor for Purdey, from the original and now legendary 1786 “Russia leather” skins pulled from the shipwreck off the coast of Cornwall, this Purdey exclusive briefcase could have been used by Hemingway to carry his works around the world whilst he indulged in country pursuits. James Purdey & Sons, or simply Purdey, is a famous British gun maker of London, founded in 1814, specialising in high-end sporting shotguns and rifles. thebeaumont.com

24-Hour, 36-Hour and 48-Hour Mission bags from Aspinal of London
There’s a reason the new Aspinal of London Aerodrome Collection by
David Gandy has that enviable duality of being stylish and yet rugged enough that it won’t look out of place in a jungle trek. It’s inspired by the knight of the skies – the legendary Spitfire. The 18-piece collection, a collaboration with model David Gandy, covers everything a man may need for travelling – from passport cases to rugged carry-on bags and briefcases. The bags are made from oiled calfskin leather in rugged dark brown or tan combined with lightweight khaki and canvas, which give them a stylish, vaguely military feel in keeping with the inspiration.
We especially love the mission bags, which comes in the 24-Hour, 36-Hour and 48-Hour sizes. Handy and lightweight – and good-looking, let’s not forget – they’re roomy enough to stash a week’s worth of clothes and gadgets. Perfect for travelling light. aspinaloflondon.com
