Attaché case by Ettinger and double gusset briefcase by Purdey, both from the Jimmy Beaumont Bespoke Travel Collection Inspired by actor and author David Niven, this bespoke attaché case was made entirely by hand by an Ettinger craftsman, using traditional English bridle leather on the exterior and long grain skiver on the inside. The attaché is based on a 1930s original and adapted for modern-day use with the addition of an iPad pocket on the lid. It could easily have been used by David Niven to carry around his papers when the actor was writing his hugely successful books. Founded in 1934, Ettinger is one of the finest luxury leather goods manufacturers in Great Britain and the only leather goods provider with a Royal Warrant to HRH The Prince of Wales.
A special briefcase entirely handmade in England by Neil MacGregor for Purdey, from the original and now legendary 1786 “Russia leather” skins pulled from the shipwreck off the coast of Cornwall, this Purdey exclusive briefcase could have been used by Hemingway to carry his works around the world whilst he indulged in country pursuits. Customers who want a bespoke trunk can visit New & Lingwood’s flagship store on Jermyn Street to make their orders and be taken through the process by a member of staff specifically trained to assist in bespoke orders of this kind. From silk lining to fixtures the customer will have a wide range of choice to order their perfect trunk, unique to them. (A bespoke order cannot be made online, however, a readymade, silk lined trunk can be purchased via the website.). The final case (bespoke or ready-made) can then be monogrammed with the customer’s initials.
The choice of silks is infinite as customers can choose to commission their own designs, which can of course also be used for gowns, slippers, ties as well as luxuriant trunk linings. All silks are woven in England. Customers can also pick from a series of silks already designed and exclusive to New & Lingwood. There are 12 colours of Globe-Trotter’s renowned vulcanised fibreboard from classic black and navy, tan and racing green to red, violet and a few more.
