LEGACY ON THE LAWNS
The world of luxury motoring has had somewhat of a rude awakening
Grand Touring in a grand manner in a GT has been severely limited by our inability to cross borders.
,t has meant though, that the few motoring events that have been able to take place have been even more popular than ever, with entrants, guests, and interestingly enough with automotive manufacturers.
,ndeed, the trend away from the traditional motor show to more intriguing methods of demonstrating the elegance, heritage, and desirability of the latest automobiles, had already started to show the roots of revolution even before the world was thrust into the turmoil of immobility which we now encounter.
And in 2020, much as they would have done 0 years ago, we have seen the manufacturers of luxury and hypercars readily turn to the lawns of the Concours d’Elegance to showcase their wares. We have returned to a world where the motor car is again seen not simply as a mode of transport, but once more as the development of our desires for a world of stylish and lavish adventure.
,n March every year, the AXA Sydney Harbour Concours d’Elegance takes place on the manicured lawns of the Victorian gardens of Swifts, the Gothic Revival mansion built in 1875 and described as, “perhaps the grandest house remaining in Sydney”. With a stunning array of vintage, veteran, Edwardian, classic, and modern
