BMW X1: A NEW FACE TO TO THE MOST SUCCESSFUL MEMBER OF THE X FAMILY

Since the launch of BMW X1 in late 2015, it has been the highest-selling BMW X model worldwide with almost 290,000 units delivered to customers, showing it has what it takes to be a winner. Now with the launch of the X1 sDrive18d xLine, it adds another chapter to the Sports Activity Vehicle's ongoing success story.

The new BMW X1 exudes a more dominant, imposing aura at the front end, in particular. Here, a larger BMW grille—the kidneys now merging in the center—links up with the new LED headlights, including sharper light iconography and a bumper with larger air intakes. The rear end of the X1 also houses new stylistic features. For example, the new inlay in the body-color rear apron adopts the car's main body color. This new feature is included as standard and lends the back end of the BMW X1 and an even stronger sense of inherent class and coherence.

Another highlight on the drivers' side exterior mirror, which projects a two-tone LED "X1" image when the car is unlocked, making getting in and out of the BMW X1 that much easier. Two colors further enhance the attractive new design of the X1—Alpine White and Black—and 18" Y-spoke Style 566 light alloy wheels with run-flat tires.

High-quality standards of the BMW X1 are evident in the new contrast stitching on the instrument panel, the black, high-gloss interior trim combined with pearl chrome inserts, and the standard Sensatec upholstery provides a comfortable and pleasurable experience in any seat. One of the highlights of the BMW X1 interior is the Control Display, a centrally mounted 6.5-inch screen operated by BMW iDrive.

THE DRIVING EXPERIENCE—POWERFUL AND EFFICIENT

The BMW X1 sDrive18d xLine is equipped with an eight-speed Steptronic transmission teamed up with an engine that generates 150hp and 350 Nm of torque. The power generated by the efficient yet sporty four-cylinder engine series complements the BMW suspension technology, which provides agility and precise driving dynamics.

BMW 1 SERIES: AGILITY AND SPACE

The third generation of the successful premium compact model, the all-new BMW 1 Series in both 118i Sport and M135i xDrive variants comes with the new BMW front-wheel-drive and generous spacing.

With their success in front-wheel-drive technology, the new 1 Series enjoys dynamic sharpness unprecedented in front-wheel-drive cars, a larger, more aggressive face with the signature BMW kidney grille and sharper nose.

The full LED rear lights provide a whole new take on the familiar "L" design courtesy of a single, slim light element with an impressive sweep to the side. Eyecatching tailpipes with a diameter of 90mm (or 100mm for the angle-cut items on the BMW M135i xDrive) set the seal on the sporting appearance of the rear section.

It comes with light-alloy wheel designs starting with the 17-inch Double-spoke style 549 for the 118i Sport, a larger 18-inch V-spoke style 554 M for the M135i xDrive in Alpine White, and an 18-inch Double-spoke style 556 M for the M135i xDrive in Misano Blue.

The interior of the all-new BMW 1 Series is more spacious; getting in is easier, and the knee room for the rear passengers has increased by 33mm while elbow room has 13 mm more space and the driver and front passenger improved to 42mm. The load compartment capacity of 380 liters is up 20 liters from its predecessor, and folding down the rear seats increases this to 1,200 liters. Also, the minimum width of the trunk has increased by 67mm.

Other notable features include the ARB (nearactuator wheel slip limitation) technology taken from the BMW i3, now making its debut in a combustionengine vehicle. BMW jumps into the bandwagon of voice-activated interface with the prompt "Hey BMW," drivers can operate their car and access its functions and information both by voice and touch.

Worth mentioning is the Parking Assistant, which also includes a reversing feature that enables automatic parking in spaces that are either parallel or perpendicular to the road, as well as maneuvering out of parallel parking spaces. This will be handy in city driving.

Customers have a choice of three-and four-cylinder gasoline engines from the latest-generation BMW EfficientDynamics family. Starting from the threecylinder in the BMW 118i Sport, the engine generates 140 hp and 220 Nm of torque through a seven-speed dualclutch Steptronic transmission. The BMW M135i xDrive is equipped with the most powerful four-cylinder in the BMW Group line-up. The 2-liter TwinPower Turbo four-cylinder engine makes 306 hp and 450 Nm of torque with an eight-speed Steptronic Sport transmission. The BMW M135i xDrive dispatches 0 to 100 km/h in a mere 4.8 seconds (4.7 seconds with the M Performance package) and has a governed top speed of 250 km/h. The M Performance Package is equipped on the Alpine White version of the BMW M135i xDrive only.
