DOLCE & GABBANA
European Summer Escape
Dolce & Gabbana’s show was total escapism. Immediately after seeing the show, I wanted nothing more than to fly to Europe and enjoy a warm, blissful summer. The collection was a true-blue
Italian summer—cool and soothing under blistering heat, almost like being transported onto a yacht, sailing on pristine aquamarine waters.
The clothes themselves embodied this. Comfortable, fluid tailoring seen in the silhouettes, boxy shoulders, and overall looks, but rendered in Dolce & Gabbana’s seductive undertone. The tile patterns that adorned the prints, combined with Mediterranean blues, gave it a very inviting mood.
Between the 104 looks, the ones that jumped out were those that captured the essence of airiness. Robes and caftans rich in prints were paired with matching lounge pants, flowing in the wind as the models walked down the runway. Most wearable were the boxy silken shirts, tastefully oversized paired with equally billowy trousers. Sarongs made an appearance too, with tasseled edges that danced with each step. It may be a while before the next vacation, but at least we’ll have this.
