Get into spirit of sparkle with Louis Vuitton’s latest cruise collection

Louis Vuitton’s 2020 Cruise collection was held at the TWA flight center at the John F. Kennedy airport in New York. Designed by architect Eero Saarinen in 1962, it is considered an architectural gem and was ahead of its time. Creative director Nicolas Ghesquière had the privilege of visiting this design landmark in the late nineties and chose it to house his Cruise 2020 offering. Perhaps inspired by the idea of the coming and going along with the art of air travel, his collection was an homage to the design and fast paced lifestyle of New York. He also threw in various inspirations from different fashion eras of the past, present and even imagined the future into the mix.

At the regional presentation held in Singapore, selected runway pieces along with handbags and accessories exhibited New York art deco details— even the famous Chyrsler building found an iteration via a statement handbag, along with a design of the New York skyline implemented on jackets. Glitz and glamour was also a theme that was tackled, and the best example would be a precious rhinestoneencrusted capelet that screamed statement.

But perhaps the objects of desire for this collection was the imaginative handbags and accessories, from the new designs of the Twist, Capuccine, Petite Malle, Dauphine to the odd shaped egg arm candy.
