It’s an inborn complex pattern of behavior, a simple response to situations that do not require cognition or consciousness. Just like how a bird builds a nest without having to learn from another, a spider spinning a web in perfect sequence, instinct almost always leads to one thing: life.

With humans, it’s different. It’s been proven that emotions have evolved to our greatest survival benefit in a powerful and almost instantaneous way. Intense emotions such as disgust or surprise initiates action in response to an imminent threat while on the other side of the spectrum, joy and love take longer to be felt because the need to experience them right away does not exist.

This month, we take you on a very personal journey with award-winning actress Nadine Lustre as our guiding light.
