RICHARD MILLE RM 07-01 GEM SET CERAMIC
The use of ceramic in watchmaking is not uncommon but the setting of gemstones, such as diamonds, into ceramic is. And this is what makes the RM 07-01 so unique. Known for pushing the boundaries of watch design, Richard Mille is undaunted by the complexity of embedding 250 diamonds into a hard and scratchresistant material such as carbon TPT. This involves a long and delicate process of milling and micro-shot peening and the use of special machines to drill holes to accommodate the diamonds. The result is a spectacular timepiece which is powered by an automatic movement – the calibre CRMA2 made of grade 5 titanium – which is fully visible through the back and partially through the front. The dial itself is made of onyx and red gold, and it’s set with diamonds. Even the crown is set with a rather large diamond, while the black ceramic case is adorned with a row of diamonds in the outer bezel.
