IWC
During the year of its 150th anniversary, Swiss watchmaker IWC Schaffhausen inaugurated its new production facility, the Manufakturzentrum. Officially unveiled in August at an event attended by IWC brand ambassadors including cyclists Fabian Cancellara and Patrick Seabase, the facility enables the company to produce movement components, manufacture movements and cases under a single roof for the first time in its history. Covering a gigantic 145,000 square feet, the Manufakturzentrum took 80 construction companies 21 months to build at a cost of 42 million Swiss francs ( about HK$ 330 million); some 1,500 different components are now made there.
