Hermès
The latest take on Hermès’s Arceau watch, first designed in 1978 by Henri d’origny, is inspired by a Grands Fonds scarf created by French artist Annie Faivre in 1992 and featuring brightly coloured exotic fish. It takes more than one month to create each intricate dial, the craftsperson melting coloured glass tesserae into filaments before assembling tiny tiles atop a putty base. Arceau Grands Fonds is limited to six pieces, each in a 41mm white- gold case with transparent caseback and blue alligator strap.
