SYLVIA PLATH’S PERSONAL COPY OF THE BELL JAR
March 21
Sylvia Plath’s copy of her only novel, The Bell Jar, will be sold during the Bonhams Fine Books and Manuscripts auction in London. The semi-autobiographical novel was first published in 1963 – two months before her death – under the pseudonym Victoria Lucas. This inscribed and dated first edition is from the personal collection of Plath and her then-husband Ted Hughes. Their daughter Frieda Hughes is selling it for an estimated price of more than £60,000.
