What? It was the talk of Europe, a grand masked ball – the Grand Bal Surréaliste Christian Dior, held after the maison’s haute couture spring/summer 2018 show in Paris.

No grey areas: As stars of cinema and socialites arrived at the Musée Rodin for the event of the year, many a breath was taken. The gardens had been transformed into a fantastical set, with a giant chessboard greeting the guests and models dressed as chess pieces ushering VIPs in. The black-and-white motif extended to the chequer-floored marquee, inside which enormous disembodied face parts dangled from the high mirrored ceiling. The extravagant masked ball celebrated the surrealist spirit that surprised

(and wowed!) the invited.

Music of the night: A concert by Willow Smith provided ample beats for the evening.
