Red-Carpet Capers

Prestige Hong Kong - - VIP - CANNES FILM FESTIVAL

What? Cannes Film Festival celebrates movies from all around the world and the 11-day annual affair (this was its 71st year!) is one of the few extravaganzas in which Hollywood meets its global counterparts at premieres and parties. Return to elegance: Usually, the Cannes red carpet has more than its fair share of bizarre fashion, with European designers taking a freewheeling approach to draping the stars. This time around, however, most of the sartorial selects were neither wild nor whimsical, perhaps because Australian actress Cate Blanchett was president of the jury. Blanchet is famed for her poise and elegance – and many leading ladies followed suit. Taking a stand: In the wake of the #MeToo movement, 82 women on the red carpet linked arms in silent protest against harassment. When told they weren’t allowed to wear flats, Kristin Stewart took off her shoes and walked barefoot. Well, that’s one way to take a stand.
