Pamper that body
What is kinesiology and is it what you need?
YOUR MUSCLES MIGHT be telling you more than you think. That’s the premise of kinesiology, an energy-healing practice that uses muscle response to determine and improve everything from physical pain to emotional trauma to allergies and digestive issues.
“Basically, our muscles are connected to our brains and nervous systems,” explains Lia Wong, a freelance kinesiologist who works with Kinesiology Asia. “Using muscle monitoring, this biofeedback tells us about blocks and imbalances in the mind, body and spirit that are often beyond our awareness. It can also tell us what you need to feel right again.” And it’s literally as easy as lying down and having your arm pushed left and right.
“I’ve had people experience an improvement in their symptoms (from mindset to sore throats) after just a 10-minute session. I had one client come in who was going through a break-up and suffering from insomnia. After just one kinesiology session, I received a message from her the next day that she was able to sleep the night after, and soundly, too.”
While the logistics of a session are variable and difficult to explain on paper, anyone and everyone is likely to benefit from a session. “We all suffer from stress,” explains Wong. “Whether it’s in the form of pain, sickness, our environment – pollution or allergens, for example, challenging relationships or a demanding workplace. Or we could simply feel tired or flat and not know why. Kinesiology is essentially a stress-management system, and can also give additional support on breaking through limiting beliefs that are getting in the way of what your heart desires.”
