Prestige Hong Kong

CONTRIBUTORS

-

Photographer YANA VILKINA is no stranger to the pages of Prestige magazine – in her previous incarnation as a Siberian model, that is. Having struck many a pose in front of the camera, she’s now migrated behind the lens to take portraits, a hobby that’s turned into a full-blown profession. With her trusty Canon 5D Mark IV and her preference for natural light, she’s shot fashion, nude, landscape and lookbook projects in the past year – check out her budding portfolio on Instagram at @reflections_ of_mymind. In this issue, you can find her portraiture in our First Person piece on page 10. ALEXANDER BEER’S background as a model – being in front of the camera for the likes of Mario Testino and David Sims – ignited his passion for photography, which led to a stint as a photojournalist for the BBC and commissions from National Geographic, The Telegraph, Condé Nast Traveller, The Rake, Gentleman’s Journal and others. Beer’s objective is to create a narrative of people and places using his ability to connect each story to its natural environment. He’s currently working on a personal project, “Men of Yoga,” photographing male yogis in dramatic environments. His first commission for Prestige is this month’s Morocco-based photo shoot (“Dune Drifter”, page 52). Renowned for his celebrity portraits and beauty photography, SIMON EMMETT’S work regularly appears in publications such as Vanity Fair, Rolling Stone, Vogue, Esquire, GQ and Allure. Among the faces the Londonbased photographer/ director has captured over the years are Adele, Rod Stewart, Cameron Diaz, Michael Caine, Bryan

Ferry and Tony Blair. As a filmmaker, his first feature documentary, Underhill, about Barnet FC’s old home, was met with critical acclaim and his second documentary, on British rock band The Darkness, is currently in production. This month, Emmett photographs actor Henry Cavill for our cover story (“Class Act”, page 104). Writer ANDREW DEMBINA has focused mostly on food and drink, and art and design in 25 years of print and radio media in Hong Kong. Previously an editor at Prestige, he has also been deputy managing editor of wine and luxurylifestyle magazine Le Pan. In this month’s issue he takes a look at the rising phenomenon of English wine (“Keep Calm and Sparkle On”, page 132). THERESA HAROLD has written over the years for Prestige, The Telegraph, AsiaSpa and Harper’s Bazaar UK. Born in Hong Kong, she moved to England as a child and has travelled back and forth ever since. During the course of her career, she has interviewed celebrities, designers, CEOs – and, memorably, a prince. For this issue, Harold talks to Chinese eventing pin-up boy and Olympian Alex Hua Tian (“Mount Improbable”, page 122).
