But we Hongkongers have been through a lot over the years and it’s safe to say we’ll come back from the storm even stronger and, dare we say, better than before. Thanks to our parent company Burda’s creative team in Singapore and our own design crew led by the talented and tireless Gigi Lee, Prestige has a fresh new look and an exciting new format. Besides the regular features and fashion shoots you’ve come to love, we’ve expanded the Agenda section to include a ton of news and need-to-know information from the worlds of style, beauty, toys, travel, art, culture and other lifestyle precincts. Call me biased, but flipping through this issue is particularly exciting. Not only do we have a rare one-on-one with charismatic actor and UNHCR ambassador Jung Woo-Sung, but also a slew of exclusives, from hot parties around Hong Kong to features ranging from a conversation with Angelina Jolie to a date with Delvaux artistic director Christina Zeller in Beijing celebrating the 60th anniversary of the Brillant handbag. We present a photoessay by our frequent collaborator Until Chan, who instead of shooting his usual dreamy fashion spreads has turned his lens to the young Hongkongers who are keeping traditional arts such as erhu, opera and calligraphy alive. Senior – in more ways than one – Editor Jon Wall takes us for a spin in the classy, charming and comfortable Mercedes-Benz E 400 Cabriolet, and former staffer Andrew Dembina gets the scoop on an incredible 33-course feast being imagined and executed by Le Pan chef Edward Voon.
