Yayoi Kusama, But­ter­fly, 1982 This acrylic on can­vas bar­relled past its high es­ti­mate to fetch US$375,000. The top lot at the auc­tion show­cases the Ja­panese artist’s trade­mark dots and “in­fin­ity net”.

Kaws, Un­ti­tled, 2014 This min­i­mal­ist acrylic on can­vas is part of the Brook­lyn-based artist’s 2014 series, Man’s Best Friend, fea­tur­ing char­ac­ters from the Peanuts comic-strip series. Part of Snoopy is seen here, with the artist’s sig­na­ture “X”-marked eyes. It sold for US$200,000.

Cindy Sher­man, Un­ti­tled #201, 1989 Sold within es­ti­mates at US$187,500, this chro­mogenic print in the artist’s frame rein­ter­prets Old Mas­ter por­trai­ture in a mod­ern con­text.
