Prestige Hong Kong

CONTRIBUTORS

-

Intrepid Scotsman PAUL KAY was bitten by the travel bug at a young age, sparking an incurable curiosity that has taken him to more than 70 countries, and into adventures that range from staring down hordes of marine lizards in the Galápagos Islands to running naked through the desert at the Burning Man festival in Nevada. Based in Hong Kong, his work has appeared in The Times, Forbes and The Independent, among many other publications. Find out how he fares at Bali’s Capella Ubud tented resort (“Haute Camp”, page 112). STEPHEN MCCARTY is a former literary editor of the South China Morning Post and ex-editor-inchief of the Asia Literary Review. Having appeared at literary festivals in Bali, Hong Kong, Jaipur, London, Melbourne, Shanghai and Singapore, he would be delighted to work exclusively as a moderator if he could find someone to pay him to do it full time. He is a vegetarian, an animalrights advocate and a musician of questionable quality. And like any knowledgeable, footballloving Mancunian, he supports Manchester City. Geopolitical futurist Dr Parag Khanna comes under his microscope in this issue (“Khanna the Connectivity Kahuna”, page 94). ORIANA LAYENDECKER is a Brooklyn-based fashion and beauty photographer. Born in the US and raised in Germany, she began her career as a make-up artist for film and television in 2007, and shifted her focus to photography in 2011 when she studied art and visual technology at George Mason University, Virginia. She moved to New York in 2014 and began working in studios such as Roll Gate and Spring. Her corporate clients have included L’Oréal, Michael Kors, WME-IMG and Nars Cosmetics. Her first Prestige assignment is our cover story on Japanese actress Tao Okamoto (“The Life of Tao”, page 82). Writer ANDREW DEMBINA has focused mostly on food and drink, and art and design in 25 years of working in print and radio media in Hong Kong. Until recently an editor at Prestige, prior to that he was deputy managing editor of wine and luxury-lifestyle magazine Le Pan. In this month’s issue he talks to top British chef Simon Rogan about his two new Hong Kong restaurants (“Cumbria to Causeway Bay”, page 108).
