According to New York-based stylist and fashion consultant Ada Kokosar, the answer is yes. Midnight 00 is the contemporary fairy tale the fashion-conscious have been looking for. An inspirational mashup between Cinderella, Marie Antoinette and present-day practicality, shoes shaped by fantasy and possibility are draped, pleated and quilted in silks and crystals, and then wrapped in transparent PVC. Kokosar’s vision was to create durable demi-couture pieces that can become heirlooms. Made in Italy, these shoes are party-proof glass slippers that will take you long past midnight and remain pristine to boot. Launched in early 2018, the brand was the result of Kokosar’s impeccable personal style. A bona fide street-fashion star, her design chops were honed when fashion retailer & Other Stories approached Kokosar to collaborate on a very successful one-off capsule collection that led to other collaborations, including one with Cesare Paciotti. During this endeavour, Kokosar began designing with Cinderella’s glass slipper as inspiration, trying to produce a distinctive shoe that offered something different to what the market had to offer, playing with romance, modernity and fantasy. From there, Kokosar launched Midnight 00. Currently retailing at Matchesfashion.com, the brand’s Shell pump, which features extravagant PVC ruffles and tulle-covered leather, has become a market favourite.
