PETER PHILIPS TAKES A SWEET APPROACH TO DIOR’S SPRING COLOUR COLLECTION

-

“You know the feeling when you pass by a candy shop and you can’t control yourself?” Peter Philips asks. “I hope my spring collection has the same effect.” Lolli’Glow, as the line is called, is inspired by sweet pastels and candy colours that speak to the return of sunny days and moonlit nights. “It’s all about gorgeous pastels that you can wear in a girly way or a more dramatic way,” he says. “There are also darker shades but they blend in beautifully with the lighter shades.” The collection includes the duo-toned Lip Glow to the Max in coral, raspberry and holographic pink and the matching Lip Maximizer; a selection of three Rouge Dior Double Rouge Lolli’Glow lipsticks that combine a pastel and more vibrant hue; two 5 Couleurs Lolli’Glow eyeshadow palettes and the Diorshow On Stage Liner in schoolgirl-inspired blue, green and orange. Two Dior Skin Nude Luminizers and four Dior Vernis nail lacquers — scented like a candy shop — are also new additions. “The days when trends were dictated are long gone,” Philips says. “Now it’s social media, the democratisation of fashion and beauty, it’s the women who wear it. And they don’t just buy anything. They want a product that keeps its promise, that is beautifying and helps her to express herself. And it’s our job to use our expertise and knowledge to seduce and create products. I always like to have products that are not intimidating, that are approachable, but I also like to push it. “And have a bit of fun from time to time. Because that’s what it’s about. It’s not just a tool to work with; make-up should also be fun.”
