Bonhams in Los Angeles is offering the original words, handwritten by lyricist Bernie Taupin, to a number of classic Elton John hits. They include “Bennie and the Jets” (estimated at US$80,000-$120,000) and “Candle in the Wind” ($150,000$250,000), whose opening words “Goodbye Marilyn Monroe” were later amended to “Goodbye Norma Jean”.
