For an art jeweller like Cindy Chao, there’s no bigger accolade than when one of her pieces becomes part of the permanent collection of a major museum. and so it was with the utmost pride that her namesake brand announced that the 2018 Black Label Masterpiece XVII Peony Brooch was inducted into the acclaimed William and Judith Bollinger Gallery in the Victoria Albert Museum in London on May 19 . The one-of-a-kind brooch, set entirely with rubies and purple-coloured titanium, is at once ethereal and boldly dynamic. 6ays Tristram Hunt, director of the V&A, the brooch is "an exquisite and virtuoso celebration of nature’s beauty, as well as a deeply personal piece". Ten years in the making, it’s a testament to Chao’s immense artistry, and marks the third Cindy Chao creation to feature in a major museum, following the Butterflies at the Smithsonian and Musée des Arts Décoratifs.
