CINEMATIC CELEBRATIONS
Celebrating 25 years of partnership with the Cannes Film Festival, Chopard hosted an exquisite evening inspired by cinema – and, in the process, unveiled a dazzling new Red Carpet Collection
KNOWN FOR PUTTING ON the most magical and star-studded events during the Cannes Film Festival, Chopard rolled out the red carpet once again for Chopard Loves Cinema, an exclusive soirée and dinner to commemorate its 25th anniversary as the event’s official partner. Hosted at the luxurious Hôtel Martinez on the French Riviera by Chopard’s Co-President and Artistic Director, Caroline Scheufele, the celebratory event also saw the unveiling of the haute joaillerie house’s latest Red Carpet Collection.
Inspired by movie masterpieces, the Red Carpet Collection features 75 high-jewellery creations that were showcased that evening during a fashion show, when they were matched on the runway with elegant Elie Saab gowns.
In a reflection of the new collection, the event took guests on a journey through the history of cinema, which brought a film studio setting to life with accents of old Hollywood glamour and a dance performance to melodies from great musical comedies.
On the evening of May 21, Scheufele was joined by the likes of Hong Kong actress Fala Chen, Korean actor Lee Jung-jae and British model and actress Poppy Delevingne. At another event four days later, guests included Maggie Gyllenhaal, Peter Sarsgaard, Eva Longoria, Emmanuelle Béart, Charlbi Dean, Camille Razat, Mads Mikkelsen, Michele Morrone, Bella Hadid, the Marchioness of Bath Emma Thynn and Maye Musk.
Scheufele paid tribute to the partnership, which dates back to 1998, when the watchmakerjeweller first became associated with the Cannes Film Festival after proposing a new design for the jury’s highest award, the Palme d’Or. Marking the occasion with a moving speech, she said, “The
Cannes Film Festival and Chopard have been working hand in hand for 25 years with a shared passion for the great stories that thrill fans of the seventh art.
It’s a beautiful, long-lived love story and I’m proud to witness it.”
After dinner, guests were surprised with an exclusive concert by Seal, who performed hits including “Killer”, “Love’s Divine”, “Stand by Me”, “Kiss from a Rose”, “Crazy” and “Knock on Wood”. He was followed by a performance by burlesque artist Dita von Teese and an after party fuelled with music from DJ Cassidy that kept guests dancing until the early hours of the morning, making memories in true Chopard and Cannes Film Festival fashion.
