Although the phoenix in this haute joaillerie watch is actually inspired by the beauty of Rome, it appeals to the Asian as well as Western watch collectors. In classical mythology, the creature represents renewal, burning itself then rising from the ashes of its predecessor. The Chinese “fenghuang” as it is known, is a symbol of high virtue and grace, as well as the union of yin and yang. Here, the phoenix takes a page from the motifs adorning the mosaics of the Caracalla thermal baths. It is brightly decorated in vibrant shades and woven into a partially openworked dial that reveals the in-house skeleton tourbillon movement. It is housed in an equally adorned with diamonds and comes with a matching red leather strap.
