AZZA FAHMY

-

Azza Fahmy translates Egyptian cultural and historical references into contemporary jewellery. Wellresearched themes and intricate craftsmanship are forged with a trademark mix of gold and silver to create beautiful pieces, all embodying inspirational messages and special meanings.

The credit for such unique ideas goes to the vivid imagination of Azza and her two daughters, Amina and Fatma. For Azza, the Wonders of Nature collection is very dear. “It was a time of transition and I channelled that curiosity, anticipation, and excitement onto my pieces. It was a major turning point in my career and it completely changed the way I approached my designs,” she shares. “People are no longer scared to be bold. So, whether it’s layering of multiple things to create the look or wearing oversized or mismatched jewellery, there is a keenness to make a statement and show off their individual identity.”

Embracing its Egyptian traditions since 1969, the Fahmy women are among the key players in establishing the luxury market in Egypt, having made numerous efforts to shape the Egyptian jewellery design and manufacturing sector. The Design Studio by Azza Fahmy (DSAF), the first and only independent contemporary jewellery and design education facility in the Middle East and Africa, is one such effort. “Our business comprises over 15 retail doors across the region, including our own boutiques, a store in London’s Burlington Arcade, and a pop-up store in LA’S Waldorf Hotel. We were recently honoured by Egypt’s President for our contribution to the Egyptian Industry,” shares Azza.
