Starting out in Mumbai, Bina Goenka creates jewellery that is heavily inspired by nature. Flora and fauna play a great role in her creations, which are often set with some of the finest gemstones scoured from across the globe. “The challenge is to retain the purity of natural design, while instilling a designer’s aesthetic,” shares Bina.
Bina’s avant-garde modern jewellery creations are meant for the independent and experimental woman of today: “We create wearable art, and thus we are only able to produce a very limited number of pieces per year. These are especially catered for a discerning audience, who understands craftsmanship and the overall effort put in.”
Playing with volume, dimension, and colour, Bina Goenka’s creations are never flat and rarely small. And yet, they are always created in a manner that is extremely comfortable for the wearer. “We have developed our own niche style and aesthetic, so a piece by us can be spotted from a distance.”
The brand has been moving heavily into gemstones and is gradually steering away from diamonds. The stunning outcomes under collaborations with Gemfields are a testimony to that. “We are always working on different things. Now more than ever, clients are looking for something different to what they own. They want to see new materials and modernise their collections from classic to contemporary,” stresses Bina.
