LYDIA COURTEILLE
From the outside, Lydia Courteille’s boutique on rue Saint Honoré in Paris looks like a curiosity shop, teaming with collectibles. But step inside and look closely, you will find some of the quirkiest jewellery, both modern and antique, coveted by collectors and experts alike.
Lydia is known for her flamboyant creativity and designs. “My brand is known for anti-conformism, rare stones, strong storytelling with bright colours, along with a touch of humour,” she says. “My customers are collectors who have a passion for creativity and all things fashionable.”
From collections like Un Automne A Pekin inspired by Feng Shui and the Chinese culture, to Sahara, which revolves around the magnetic blue opals, Lydia’s creations have unique stories to tell. “My latest collection is inspired by Queen of France, Marie Antoinette, and her horrible destiny,” she adds. The collection comes alive with a beautiful palette of colours inspired by the life of the Queen: from a soft pastel aquamarine blue to royal gold, to a dark and almost Gothic hue, where spiders come alive to mingle with the Queen’s royal treasures.
A scientist, collector, gemmologist, and designer all in one, Lydia has an extraordinary imagination. Her visions and ideas, coupled with her passion for mysterious symbols, archaeology, and flora and fauna, are all part of the intoxicating mix she concocts for her creations.
