TESSA PACKARD

-

With eccentric design details, unique materials, and imaginative story telling, London-based designer Tessa Packard boldly works at “injecting creativity, whimsy, and fun into the fine jewellery world”, as she tries to break what she feels is still quite a serious and elitist genre.

“Narrative integrity always wins over carat weight,” asserts Tessa. In fact, the designer researches each collection meticulously before even starting to sketch. In her Flower Bomb earrings, she attempts a playful mix of Eastern and Western sensibilities, using carved lapis lazuli and sodalite in 18K yellow gold. The jewels that are her quirkiest is a pair of mismatched Mr Pig earrings, inspired by nursery rhymes and fairy tales, created from pink quartz, onyx, obsidian, and painted porcelain and set in 18K gold.

In addition to her whimsical bi-annual collections, she works on bespoke commissions and unique objet d’art, mostly for clients who desire fun, eccentric pieces. Among her favourites are lobster cufflinks, lion earrings, and a thistleinspired cocktail ring.

Tessa says her next collection is themed on a magical garden and will be launched in May at an interactive weeklong festival. “My quest is to create memorable, one-of-a-kind jewels in miniature sculpture form, and share them with lovers of fun, fine jewellery all over the world,” she concludes.
