One of the up-and-coming names in contemporary fine jewellery is Tomasz Donocik, whose creations, when worn, set you apart from the crowd. It is his passion for his work that makes him continually challenge preconceptions of self-adornment. His bold, contrasting, and androgynous designs blur the boundaries between art, fashion, and jewellery, and between masculinity and femininity, injecting new meaning and form into the discipline.
Two questions drive him to make his work innovative: Has it been done? Is it different from the rest? By inventing unique signature details, combining unconventional materials, and playfully reimagining the way jewellery is worn, Tomasz creates pieces solely for those who dare to be different. His Electric Night collection, launched in 2014, has put the baguettes in the forefront way before anyone else. He adds: “I push the discipline in terms of stone cutting and by placing a huge emphasis on design”. Apart from his charismatic personality, he is also a front-runner in the field and has been conferred by an endless list of global design and jewellery awards. “I tend not to get too bogged down on trends. Being a Central Saint Martins graduate, we were always taught that we are the trendsetters.”
Tomasz quotes his favourite line from Oscar Wilde, which sums up what he stands for: “For those who don’t resist temptation, but pursue it.”
