The Dish On Design
This issue of Solitaire is a celebration of design; of the unforgettable forms jewellery takes on through the imagination and hands of talented designers.
Perhaps there is nothing more iconic than bejewelled pieces in the form of animals, which is further explored in a conversation with jewellery historian and author Marion Fasel (page 18), who recently published Beautiful Creatures: Jewelry Inspired by the Animal Kingdom. And on page 30, we have a fairly extensive story on four international designers whose points-of-view on design are as equally captivating as the one-of-a-kind pieces they create.
In Singapore, Simone Ng of Simone Jewels is harnessing the power of design for something a little more sustainable — recycling fine jewellery (page 44). Elsewhere in the world, we discovered that not even COVID-19 could stop the creative energies shared between jewellers and their clients. Thanks to Zoom, Whatsapp, and e-mail exchanges, beautiful and meaningful pieces were still brought to life. Read all about it on page 50.
Beyond jewellery, we also have interesting stories under the Timeless section. Familiarise yourself with the latest offerings from Chopard and Jaeger-lecoultre, as well as the newest and most covetable timepieces for 2021 and beyond, which were recently launched at the first digital edition of Watches & Wonders.
